The Morris Ring is a national federation of Morris Dance Clubs, whose aim and purpose is to promote the Morris in all its forms and provide an archive for researchers into the Morris.
In recent years, two more organisations have been formed to also help look after the Morris Dancer’s interests: The Morris Federation and The Open Morris. These three organisations originally started in competition but eventually sorted out their differences and now serve clubs with different ideals and co-operate on matters which affect the Morris in general and also provide third part insurance for associated teams.
It was these three organisations that successfully campaigned for an exemption for The Morris in the recent amendment to the licensing Act which restricted live music in public houses.
More about the formation of the Ring can be found in "What is Morris Dancing" page or direct from their website. Just go the the "Links" page.
By the way there is a shop for all things Morris as well as books and CDs on The Morris Ring website. Just follow the Links.
